Prof. dr. Carole Tiberius
Computerlinguïst

Carole Tiberius studeerde Frans en Russisch aan het Hoger Instituut voor Vertalers en Tolken (1992) in Antwerpen en Taal, Spraak en Informatica aan de Universiteit van Nijmegen (1995, cum laude). Ze is in 2001 gepromoveerd aan de Universiteit van Brighton (Engeland) op een onderzoek naar ‘multilingual lexical knowledge representation’. Voordat ze in 2006 bij het Instituut voor de Nederlandse Taal kwam, heeft ze als taalkundige gewerkt bij de Surrey Morphology Group aan de Universiteit van Surrey (Engeland).

Bij het INT is Carole als computerlinguïst vooral betrokken bij hedendaagse lexicografische projecten zoals het Algemeen Nederlands Woordenboek (ANW), de Vertaalwoordenschat en het project Woordcombinaties. Ze is samen met Tanneke Schoonheim auteur van het frequentiewoordenboek A Frequency Dictionary of Dutch (uitgegeven door Routledge in 2014).

Daarnaast werkt Carole op dit moment aan het Europese ELEXIS-project en is ze actief betrokken bij verschillende COST-acties (o.a. enetCollect over crowdsourcing en taalleren en NexusLinguarum over ‘web-centered linguistic data science’). Samen met Jan Odijk (Universiteit Utrecht) is zij Technical National Anchor Point voor het ELRC-project. Carole is een van de trustees van de Adam Kilgarriffprijs en lid van de adviesraad van het Sloveens-Hongaars woordenboek dat door de Universiteit van Ljubljana wordt gemaakt.
